Hi - I am Carol Ferndale, and you may well already know me from my travel blog Around the Planet.

This here is going to be my book blog, and I’ve loads of good ones to recommend. Not just novels, but non-fiction too.

Reading is one of my favourite pastimes, and I think we can learn so much of the world around us from books - yes, really. Some say that you can’t learn anything from books, and all that matters is real life experience. Of course real life experience matters too, but it can’t teach us everything. For example, it can’t really inform us of how people of the time reacted to Darwin’s ideas, or how it was discovered that the nucleus of the atom can split into two. There’s loads of stuff you can learn from books, that you would be hard pushed to come across in your daily life.

So that’s it. I’m going to talk about books.

In case you don’t know, I am English and live in the UK, but I’ve lived in lots of other places too, such as Japan, Sweden and the Middle East, as well as spending some time studying in France, and doing cultural exchange in Belgium.

Although I already have a degree in Psychology, I am now doing a second undergraduate degree in Physics. I just seem to love learning. Not surprising perhaps, for somebody who loves books too.
